How to find Roku IP address
As you may know you can find the Roku IP address by looking at the Roku Settings->PalyerInfo->IP address.
and you may also noticed my earlier post regarding using an Webapp http://www.apps4tv.com/remoku/ to control Roku.
But what if you lost your remote or it is not near to you. I am following this simple trial and error process.
Most of the times my Roku IP address dynamically changing to one of these IP addresses for my eHome wireless G router.
192.168.0.101
192.168.0.102
192.168.0.103
192.168.0.104
192.168.0.105
If you are not switching off the Roku device then the IP address wont be changing.

How to (remote) control your Roku device using PC or Laptop
I wanted to control my Roku device using PC especially when I want to search YouTube or Amazon videos. Typing letter-by-letter using Roku remote with arrows is too primitive interface. There were some neat apps available on iPod tpuch, iPhone, and iPad. But I wanted something on my PC.
I found this neat app that I liked. You need to enter the IP address of the Roku device to start using it. The IP address can be found by clicking the Home button and going to settings and player info.

DSL siemens speadstream 4100 to eHOME EH100 WirelessG router setup
I recently shifted to AT&T DSL and observed a very peculiar behavior when I connected eHOME EH100 wireless router. The wireless connection gets disconnected roughly every 2 hours and I need to power cycle the router. I used the same router with cable modem earlier and never had any issues with my wireless connection. I researched quite a bit in the internet but found some information but not exactly what I was looking for. Part of the reason is due to older eHome EH100 router. I heard eHome merged with D-Link and I do not see much support for this router. The simple solution I found in many sites is to replace the router.
But after talking to the AT&T technical support I got a link to
But after talking to the AT&T technical support I got a link to
How do I connect a third party router to my AT&T Internet connection (Linksys, Belkin, etc.)?
I followed the instructions on this link:
1. Configure bridge mode in the DSL modem.
For speadstream 4100 DSL modem, selecting PPP location to PPP on computer.
Go here for detailed instructions:
How do I set up Home Networking and Enable Bridge Mode?
2. I have opened D-Link setup as eHome setup looked similar to me.
Entered the initial admin password as described there
3. I've clicked on the manual configure option:
MANUAL INTERNET CONNECTION OPTIONS :
If you would like to configure the Internet and Wireless settings of your new eHome Networking Wireless G Router manually, then click on the Manual Configure button below.4. I have selected My internet connection as PPPoE and also selected Dynamic PPPoE and provided AT&T DSL user-id/password authentication details as shown in this snapshot.
The wireless connection is up since 7 hours without any disconnection so far.

How to choose color scheme for your website
There are many websites available to help you choose the color scheme for your website. One of them is www.colorspire.com. In this website you can select the layout element and enter the colors to get the preview of the website. You can also make use of GIMP to select the colors from an image. If you have a header or background image available then you can pick colors from the image using the GIMP “Color Picker Tool” and by double clicking the foreground color in the Toolbox opens up the “Change Foreground Color” window. This window shows the HTML notation for the current color. You can copy this color value and paste it into colorspire layout color values. Here is the basic color scheme chosen from the P2PU school of webcraft image.
There is another website colorhunter.com where you can upload an image from that image it will generate the color scheme for you matching the image colors. It proposes the initial version of the colors to choose then you can either select those colors or you can start modify the colors until you are satisfied with the color scheme.
The other approach is to look at the art work or the existing web pages and make your choice based on the inspiration from them.
Note: This is my study notes from P2PU "From GIMP to xHTML and CSS" course.

Making Digital Art
I am trying to explore digital art with available free tools on our wonderful web. To my surprise there are many tools that we can use to create a decent art.
The sketch below was created using deviantART muro webapp with Chrome browser.
I am exploring what can be done using GIMP (Graphics image manipulation tool) and SynFig open-source 2D animation software in my free time.
